Pilates is a very effective exercise regime that strengthens the core muscles and improves joint alignment, posture and flexibility. Physiotherapists use it widely in the rehabilitation process. Sarah is a fully qualified Pilates Instructor and often combines her physiotherapy techniques with her Pilates skills. The Pilates machines used in the studio such as the reformer and Cadillac work by providing assistance or resistance depending on the client's needs via a gentle system of springs and pulleys. For clients requiring rehabilitation the machines can offer a greatly enhanced Pilates session as compared to matwork alone. This is because they are designed to provide assistance and support to allow improved joint alignment and muscle activation. Over the years Sarah has seen the enormous benefits gained by her clients who do Pilates who have a variety of conditions including Parkinson's and Motor Neurone Disease. As well as the physical benefits, the person's sense of well-being is often very much increased.

Both Karen and Sarah are fully qualified to teach matwork and machine-based Pilates having completed Pilates their teacher training with Alan Herdman. As well as this comprehensive training Sarah has also completed several APPI (Australian Pilates Physiotherapy Institue) courses including matwork level 1, NeuroPilates and Shoulder Rehabilitation and Karen has also completed a number of CPD courses.
